community - waf

What About Friendship (WAF) is an initiative under Youth Beyond Boundaries which aims to create an inclusive environment for the IDD (Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities) community with awareness, empathy, and aid.
What About Friendship started around the end of 2017 after the SEP100 Project: Walk for Joy, which was a walk with the IDD community. This initiative was founded with the vision to create an inclusive environment in UCSI University and the public for community with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our two main missions are to increase
awareness and break the stigma that surrounds people with IDD and to understand problems and obstacles faced by people with IDD so we can understand them better and empower social connections with them.

This talk highlights the life of Dr. Daniel Leong, who is autistic and his struggles of his early childhood up until the point of being diagnosed with high-functioning autism back in 2011. Despite his condition, his autism didn’t stop him from achieving a milestone of success.
