Topic Scope

Tackle real-world sustainability challenges with innovative solutions

Toward Zero Waste in Life

In Malaysia, waste generation and inefficient resource management remain growing concerns in everyday life. From excessive plastic packaging and food waste to unnecessary energy consumption and improper waste disposal, these issues are present in homes, neighborhoods, tuition centres, recreational spaces, schools and public areas where students spend their daily lives.

Despite existing waste management systems, lack of awareness, limited sustainable habits, and inefficient practices continue to contribute to environmental challenges.

As a secondary school student, you can

  • Identify a waste-related challenge in your daily environment:
Whether at home, in your neighborhood, a tuition centre, or other spaces you frequently visit.
  • And create an engaging and impactful video to
    • Showcase a real issue related to waste management, food or plastic waste, energy conservation, or resource efficiency.
(You may use real images or footage from your chosen environment to highlight the problem)
    • Propose creative & practical strategies that can contribute to a more sustainable future— such as reducing plastic waste at home, encouraging better sustainable habits in the neighborhood, minimizing food waste in daily routines, or optimizing energy use in shared spaces.

Show how small, mindful changes can create a lasting impact and inspire others to adopt more sustainable habits.
